Yo guys. It’s been more than a month since the last post, so maybe nobody reads this anymore, but here goes nothing. I just read all the other posts, and it sounds like with the exception of Viki, everybody is doing ok. I’m still in Japan, allegedly teaching English, and contrary to Paul’s situation, I live 11 blocks north of absolutely nothing. NOTHING. I am way out in the middle of nowhere in the mountains. So that’s a change of pace. Sometimes I pretend I know how to snowboard, and other times I go running, so I make use of the scenery like the jock that I apparently am. I got recruited by strangers to run on a cross-country team of sorts with a handful of 50 year-old men, so that serves for some entertainment. None of them speak any English, and at this point I stumble through Japanese like a retarded kindergartner, but they like me because I run faster than the other 50 year-olds we compete against, and then we get drunk afterwards. Count me in. Separate to our team endeavors, I let these dudes talk me into doing a half-marathon in… three weeks. Yikes. We’ll see how that goes. I’m shooting for an hour and a half. Work is ok, but work is work. Let’s be real… none of us actually want to be there. But I suppose it’s not bad enough to send me home, because last month I turned in the paperwork to stick it out another year. So for me it looks like small town Japan until August 2009. Maybe if I really hit the books, by the time I leave I can speak like a retarded first grader. But I don’t want to set my goals too lofty. For the most part out here I bide my time with other young, under-qualified, and heavy drinking English teachers from various countries. There are a handful of us in the area, and then a bigger bunch in a “city” an hour to the north. My best friends include a French Moroccan New York Jew (I know, right?), a British Navy soldier who drinks like the sailor he is, and a big time emo kid from Maryland who hates the world even more than usual because his girlfriend (or ex-girlfriend) broke up with him late last fall. Alright, this is too long already. If Charley moves out here, he can contribute to the statistics, because Japan is apparently the only developed nation with a rate of HIV infection that is NOT decreasing. Jeez. Scotty, I actually read something about dolphin sex. Weeurd. For the few of you that still call the River City home, I’ll be through briefly at the end of April. Kind of for a wedding, kind of to get drunk. Tom, I still listen to that mix cd you made me from Ivan’s music, and my enduring favorites are Killer Mike and Rza. Vacations, Life, blah, blah, blah

So I have 5 days left of work before my next 2 week vacation where I will be visiting the university in Belgium I may be attending next year before meeting Hickey in London only to meet Maria a few days later in Amsterdam (ROOMIES UNITE). Then Maria’s coming to stay with me for a few hazy days in Lens – really happy that someone will finally get to see this place I call home. I am also more than excited about getting out of my current situation which involves Perez Hilton and hours and hours on alluc.org.

I almost worked my 2nd full work-week this week (a whole 12 hours) EVER only to have 5 hours of classes canceled on the same day with no real notice, so I only made it to 11. You’d think it would be nice never working, but its actually really tiring and horrible having nothing to do all day especially when there is no Mary Jane to be had. The ‘English’ teachers have also taken a liking to pointing out how horrible ‘American’ English and make it a point to correct (Anglify) me ALL the time. Lovely. Counting down the weeks, days, hours I have left. Thankfully I have another vacation in March/April, 3 weeks this time because of Exams.

Kyle - I have also come to realize that I am a terrible terrible teacher, it’s okay – remember that its not permanent and at least you love where you’re living! And I think we had talked about you coming to Amsterdam with us girls for that vacation. I even remember sending you a filled out passport application. But its okay, you’re forgiven.

Hopefully my next post will be shroom induced or Ill be at least mildly unsober.

i apologize in advance for this post, i am drunk and have no legitimate reason to be stating my thoughts online. That having been said, I state that I’ve come to like Harlem; its simple history and complex currency have had quite an effect on my current situation. I don’t think that I’ve ever been more comfortable in an environment in which I am the racial minority. The whole experience, when combined with my pedagogical efforts in the Bronx, makes for an interesting first exposure to what we’ve come to call “the real world”. All I’ve “really” realized is that intelligence is not, in any conceivable way, directly correlated to the way in which you teach. That is, I daily encounter individuals that function on an comparatively intellectually inferior level that are better teachers than I could ever be in my lifetime. I’m not even sure that last sentence made sense. My point, despite my rhetoric, is that I do not currently believe myself to be an effective instructor. Despite this, I think New York is a pretty cool place. Sarah Schwed returns in 2 days. Talked to Paul tonight… Northeast T4 reunion tentatively scheduled for March in NYC, when Bowser shakes her tailfeather up north? Incidentally, I have a week off in 2 weeks… I’m considering a plane ticket somewhere, who would be willing to host me?????? I want to see at least some of you. I’ll even come to texas. - KYLE

First of all, I’m so glad to hear that nobody has grown up. I go to school with people our age who act like they’re in their mid-40′s, so I guess I’m somewhat of a standout. Like Joe, I don’t wear underwear and when I do they’re assuredly not clean. I make myself an old-fashioned every day after school, so I’m pretty sure that makes me an alcoholic, but I certainly joined the right profession (lawyers have the highest rates of alcoholism of any profession…e.g. BJ Hoerl).

School itself good. I don’t do anything as cool and interesting as you folks travelling, teaching, teaching abroad, dealing in billions of dollars, etc. I do lots of homework and *occasionally* party like it’s 1999. I’m friends with a kid who dated in high school one of the fat lesbian zeta chis….i’m pretty sure it’s the same one that charley got AIDS from and the same one that raped Megan in the bathroom.

I didn’t make that post, paul don’t try to pawn off your evil. Me and doost are planning a northeast trip in March! Our middle schools have the same spring break, geeeeez. The country’s future is in serious peril when the likes of me doost and kyle control the youth. It’s up to hickey to save the generation. In Austin this weekend Doost was smooching on a homeless dude who then asked scotty for a quarter. Do you really want your child being taught about gravity by someone who often has trouble standing on her own? I’m finding out all about the secret gangsta lifestyles of New Braunfels Texas. Who knew our picturesque vacation spot had such a widespread underground hood. My kids keep getting busted with pot and knives and offering to “eat my box real good” for me. I have a home number written on a paper airplane if I change my mind. we’ll see, I really hate to dip below the 7th grade standard I’ve set for myself. LOVE JENN

Dallas

It is about time, I miss you all. Dallas is interesting, it could be a cool city, but for the people. I basically work too much, drink everynight, and play poker six days a week. My best friend in dallas is an ex- navy black guy who is nearly homeless and just signed up for unemployment. Jenn, he is basically my shedbum (aka homeless guy project). I am still kinda seeing the asian girl, and i have recently been specializing in single mothers.

OK about the cougars.

COUGAR: def. An older woman who freguents clubs in order to score with a much younger man.

At first they seem all innocent and occasionally hot, but they are like zombies. you can evade one or two, they look slow and unimposing. But, in great number they are overwhelming and they can take you down using pack formations.

But really dallas ain’t bad. Work is pretty cool. I have a mormon secretary who basically runs my life. it is great. I have a quarter Billion in net worth under my direct management and i never wear underwear. Everyone thinks i am a pillar of prudence. ha.

storytime. So about a month ago I find myself at this bar where i fight on wednesdays. It was friday and apparantly that means black night because i was one of about three caucasians in the crowd. no prob. So i end up with these two sister, Tan Di EE and something I forget. they are Zimbabewan and happen to be the daughters of robert mugabe’s right hand man. think hilter’s next inline to rule. anyhow we spent about an hour in a denny’s parking lot at the end of which she tells me she has got to get back to her husband and kids. awesome.

And i am not fat anymore. JOE

Haha. I had forgotten about that Jen, good times.

I’m currently living at the “Blue Monster” on East Park with Kate, Troy, Sam Nachbar, and George Fisky. It was sad to see Shannon and Ivan leave but its still an all day party. I’m working for my Dad as an assistant paralegal. I get to see lots of gruesome pictures all day, create and put together trial presentations, and do lots of filing. Fun Fun. I miss doing nothing at the Holt Center and just driving a golf cart around all day. When Kate and I drink 200 beers each at teh saucer everyone should come to our $200 bar tab party. It won’t dissapoint.

Holdin it down in Sa-Town

Hey peeps. I’m with Jenny on making this both my first and only blogging site. I even set it on the top of my “favorites”. That’s love.

Well, I hope you guys are freezing your asses off up north, that’s what you get for leaving me. San Antonio remains lame, at least once a month I escape to Austin/Houston/New Orleans. Charlie usually wusses out at the last minute and falls asleep but everyone else remains reassuringly crazy. Doost escapades get me through the long cold nights. Joseph Christopher Nathan Dudley came and spent some time with me and the fam over break, I think his libido is on overdrive up there in Dallas. I also think Kayla is finally receiving the level of appreciation she always deserved.

I envy you couch surfers, as I struggle through both full-time school and (eek) salary job. I started employment this past week as an “prevention specialist” (fancy word for social worker) at a middle school in New Braunfels. So far so good, though I didn’t realize how hood the NB can be.

Eliz, Zoe and my new man take up the majority of my remaining time. All in all, can’t complain except I miss everyone. Paul and Jenny, expect me sometime within the next couple months! We must coordinate, and possibly take a weekend excursion to the Big Apple and Beantown. Also, the grant that I work under loaded me down with all sorts of gadgets that I don’t get Pablo. I think I may just donate to the mormons, we all know how much they love that shit.

Well I think this is getting too long. As a final statement, Scotty I just purchased my Keller tickets so I call a couch or at the very least a blanket. This time, I’ll try not to cuddle with the dog toy nor make Fidel listen to me talk in my sleep.
